Risk with Caterpillar fungus ( Yarsagumba ) trade in Nepal : Yarsagumba looted in Darchula

Before two months ago, a group of looters made away with yarsagumba  (Cordyceps sinensis) worth Rs 15 million from traders on Monday morning. The looters robbed the traders while they were taking the prized aphrodisiac herb from Darchula to Kathmandu. The group looted 27 kg of yarsagumba from Harka Singh Badal of Darchula, and Charke Lama and Waking Lama of Humla while they were trying to board a bus at Gokuleshwar in Darchula. Yarsagumba costs around Rs 550,000 a kilo in Darchula.
